The Spiral - main drawbridge gate
The Spiral's main drawbridge gate is the large central entrance to the Floor 1 maze known as the Spiral, a raised gate wide enough for two goblin dozers side by side, opening onto a round courtyard with three exits. Smaller portcullis entrances ring the Spiral's outer perimeter. The Borough Boss does not enter this outer courtyard, and the smaller viewing doors around the Spiral are protected by a barrier that arrows bounce off.

- Book 1, Chapter 22: Per Brandon, most of the police officers and firefighters with his group went in through this gate when they first found the Spiral; it closed behind them, and when it opened again five minutes later they were gone.
- Book 1, Chapter 26: Carl, Donut, the four Meadow Lark staff and Agatha crossed the drawbridge into the courtyard; the gate slammed shut behind them and metal bars locked them in as the boss battle began.
- Book 1, Chapter 27: After the Ball of Swine was killed the gate vanished, and residents waiting outside began coming in.
